LOS ABRIGOS: an oasis of calm!
The pretty, small Canarian fishing village of Los Abrigos is situated on the sunny south east coast of Tenerife, between Golf del Sur and El Medano, with views inland to Mount Teide and the National Park. The picturesque harbour is lined with bars and restaurants renowned for fish and seafood, or just having a drink whilst watching the panoramic sunsets. Whilst the village has expanded in recent years, it retains its traditional Canarian charm and village appeal. A new Fresh Fish market is now open. The cosmopolitan local community is well served with beaches, shops, a school and post office, with the major supermarkets and out of town stores situated only 3 kms away at Las Chafiras. There are two international golf courses in the immediate area, at Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf, with others within 20 minutes drive at Las Americas and Adeje. With the major tourist areas and the airport within 20 minutes drive, Los Abrigos is an oasis of calm yet ideally situated for all the attractions and amenities of the Island.

Virgen del Carmen Fiesta
Every year, in July, fiestas occur in fishing villages all over the Island, when the statue of The Virgen del Carmen is paraded through the streets to the port and taken out on a specially decorated fishing boat for a ceremony at sea. The ceremony is a specific blessing for fish and fishermen. The blessing occurs twice in Los Abrigos-once in the middle of the day and again at night. The fiesta concludes with a wonderful firework display around 10pm.

Los Abrigos Fiesta
Every year in September, the Village of Los Abrigos celebrates Fiesta, in honour of the patron saints of The Virgin del Carmen and San Blas. Lasting for anything from 5 to 8 days and nights it is one long party for locals and visitors alike, with eating drinking, parades and dancing in the town square to the wee small hours! Sleep is definitely not on the agenda but having fun certainly is!
